Critchlow Formed Road Network is A nationwide network of formed roads and walkways accessible to the public.

A formed road is land that has been set aside, and prepared, for vehicle traffic. The surface of the road may be sealed, or it may be rough (wheel tracks), but it must be accessible in all weather conditions by a standard, non-SUV, family type vehicle.

A walkway is land that has been set aside, and prepared, for foot traffic.

All formed roads that are named (publicly or privately owned, formally or informally named) will be represented within the Critchlow road network.

The Critchlow Road Network follows the following basic principles:
1) It is a connected network. All segments in the dataset will perfectly connect with their neighbouring segments where, in the real world, a vehicle can drive between the road sections represented by the connecting segments.
2) It uses nationally consistent naming standards for all roads, a nationally consistent set of prefixes and suffixes, and nationally consistently applied abbreviations for such prefixes and suffixes.
3) It is composed entirely of lines or polylines. No other type of object is acceptable, including multipolylines.
4) It represent real world road features, such as roundabouts, dual carriageways, ramps and slip roads.

Electricity Network Boundaries in New Zealand. The boundary data is an approximation. NB this is updated as/when a boundary is changed.

Latest Edits:
Jan 2019: Orion/Main power boundary aligned to supplied images, Name change for "Electricity Ashburton Networks" - changed to "EA Networks"
July 2016: The names, phone numbers and email addresses were updated. Electricity Invercargill spatial boundary was added (supplied by PowerNet). The line from Tapanui south-east to the coast was moved.

Search Roads is a searchable road layer with a single object for each named road, derived by combining on Road_ID for named roads: Where names are not unique on their own, Suburb is appended to Roadname so the user can choose between duplicate road names when doing a 'find' on a given road name.

A cartographic-only layer which is a subset of the Road layer, consisting of the portion of a road/bridge/overpass that crosses over a road or railway line. This layer should be symbolised the same as the Road layer and then positioned so that it draws after both the Road and Railway layers.
